Official Release! (2.1.1)


======== 2.1.1 Official Release Notes =======

Wow I can’t believe it! After a whole year in closed beta, the day is finally here! The game will continue to be updated in accordance to any new bug discoveries. But other than that, the game is now finished!

There were many, many changes done during this time, but here are the major ones:

===== Skins =====

15 new skins have been added to the game. A new one will unlock after each successful run. After completing a run, click the player icon (the “o” in ricochet) and the player’s skin will change. 

===== Endless Mode =====

Endless Mode has now been implemented. You can choose from the three different maps and your highest wave count will be remembered for each map individually. 

You can choose to skip till wave 15 if you’d like to get straight to the action with the cost of missed potential gold. 

(Split tracking is not implemented for this mode)

===== Assist Mode =====

Assist mode has been added for those who find the standard gameplay to be too challenging. The following changes will be made to the game when playing using assist mode:

  • The player will no longer take damage from the bullet
  • Health now cost a constant amount of 2 gold

Note: Splits will not be logged for assist mode. Nor will assist mode wins count toward unlocking skins

===== Practice Mode =====

The practice mode has been completely revamped. You now have access to spawning or despawning enemies and can practice any wave in the game using the in game options. This will also apply to “No Rng” mode. 

All three maps can now be played on within practice mode. 

The in game timer’s behavior also changes in practice mode to now time how fast you complete each individual wave and will reset when a new wave is started. 

===== Item Changes =====

The wall item has been reworked and will now only affect the bullet’s trajectory but not the player or enemies. Additionally, the wall can now be rotated and picked up regardless of the players position and can be rotate both clockwise and counterclockwise with the “q” and “e” keys respectively. 

===== System Changes =====

Split tracking has now been implemented to the main game. The game will track the players top 5 fastest runs and they will be comparable in run time or individual time formats. 

Additionally of the 5 saved runs, a sum of best will be calculated and can be compared to in the split menu. 

===== Screen Fade Bug =====

Ever since the beta release, there have been issues with the transition between scenes. Finally this bug has been squashed. Screen transitions should now wait the proper amount of time depending on the speed of your computer before starting. 

===== Visual Changes ======

The menu background has changed to be slightly more in line with the main art for the game. 

The bullet when close to disappearing will now have a black sprite flash inside of it. This was done because having the bullet fade too much made it difficult to dodge. 

Alright that’s it! It’s been quite the journey these past years but I’ve learned so much from this experience and gone so much further than I originally anticipated. I Hope to work on even bigger projects in the future! Thanks so much for reading!
