Getting Serious! (1.1.5)


Whew this was a major update! Trying to get serious about getting this game ready for steam! Also man there were a ton of bugs that were created (and squashed, hopefully) this update!

=================== New Tech (Technique)====================

Kari Slow: Reflect the bullet in one direction and while still within reflect radius, reflect the bullet in the same direction again and the bullet should slow down to a crawl and you will here a special sound effect to know you did the tech. This can be useful if you want the bullet to stay in the same general location for a period of time. 

============= New Item ====================

Marth's Mask: Will double the speed at which you can attract the bullet. To attract the bullet, just hold the shoot button while a bullet is active. This item is replacing Fox's Pendant since the previously added Kiji reflect technique and the Essence of Chaos item overlap with making the bullet reflect faster. 

============= Balance Changes ===============

The Kiji reflect was significantly improved in this update.

  • Bonus damage will now stack up to two times
  • Effect duration 2 -> 3 secs
  • Reflect speed 1.6 -> 1.75 times regular velocity
  • Window to preform technique .35 -> .4 secs

The Essence of Chaos item has been slightly reworked.

  • Removes ability to Kari slow, but will make your Kiji reflect stronger. (Immediate max velocity +2 dmg)
  • Instead of an immediate buff, the bullet will gain +1 dmg if you can keep it alive for 10 secs or more (Will make particle effect along with sound effect when the bullet has powered up)

Bullet duration upgrade has had it's initial price reduced from 5 -> 3 

Gold given at the end of each level has been slightly reduced by 2 to off set the new sale system

============= Game Play ============

Implemented sale system. Now, each time the relic shop opens, 1 item at random will be on sale, signified by a yellow tag. That item will be 5 gold cheaper than normal. This is to encourage players to try new relics while still allowing them to use their favorites if they so wish. 

Added indicator for when the bullet is being attracted. The indicator is white by default and will turn red if Marth's Mask has been purchased

============= Save Data =============

Game can finally save settings data. No more having to change the volume settings every time you play! 

Game will now track your fastest clears of the game as well as your first ever clear time.

============== UI ====================


Major overhaul to screen transition system. Fixed:

  • Bug where screen would flash during transition. 
  • Bug fixed where if you pressed esc in confirm screen, next time you paused, that screen would still be up. 
  • Bug where level fade could be interrupted by taking damage.

Added quick reset button in pause screen.

Changed main menu background to avoid copyright issues 

Added leaderboard button to main menu. Will take you to the official speedrun leaderboards!

Added credits button to main menu (Credit screen will be implemented in game once assets are finalized)

Updated the option menu to match in game pause menu

Options menu is now available from any screen i.e menu, win, lose, in game screens

In game timer now updates to 3 decimal places to match speedrun.com

Fixed full screen toggle issue where toggle was reversed

=============== Misc ===================

Added quick reset. Double tap r in game to restart from the beginning immediately

Changed name of Essence of Focus to Essence of Chaos

Changed bullet disappear sound effect to avoid copyright issues

Fixed bug for if crystal enemies start off inside another enemy, they won’t damage those enemies on reflect

Made it so barrier wall doesn’t overlap on top of other sprites

Properly implemented out of bounds fix that should have been implemented last update

Added image for .exe file
